Parcel health and recovery contract

Last updated View as MarkdownAgent index

This proposed contract defines what future checks must establish. No parcel monitoring schedule, production health observation, or recovery automation is installed by these records.

Health surfaces

Surface Establishes Does not establish
Documentation Schemas and references validate; generated pages match records. Source availability or permission.
Source Approved endpoint or delivery channel behaved as observed. Full extraction or current data.
Acquisition An authorized execution reached a recorded checkpoint. Accepted quality or publication.
Data quality Artifact satisfies a named validation contract or declared exceptions. Product availability.
Release Published artifact is traceable, available, and fresh under policy. Every product journey works.
Product An implemented journey or interface passed its checks. Completeness of unrelated layers.

Observation fields

Each check needs an observation ID, subject and revision, observation time, method, evidence location, result, limitations, owner, and next action. A derived summary also needs evaluation time and policy revision. Missing observations produce unknown status; no observation is silently treated as a successful run.

A configured check additionally needs a due policy, quota or cost budget, failure severity, responsible person, and approved notification route. These values remain undecided until a source contract and operator exist.

Trigger and response

Trigger Required response Evidence before resuming
Documentation change Validate records, links, generated pages, and served representations. Check output and reviewed diff.
Endpoint or delivery failure Classify timeout, access, publisher, and transport failures; apply approved retry policy. New observation and verified checkpoint.
Access expiry or changed terms Pause dependent acquisition/publication and route scoped review. Approval for the relevant source, use, and validity period.
Native schema drift Quarantine affected output; compare native schemas and dependent mappings. Reviewed mapping revision and validation results.
Incomplete or invalid data Retain rejection evidence and identify scope/quality failure. Corrected acquisition or explicitly accepted exception.
Stale vintage Compare data vintage and publisher evidence with the approved policy. New accepted release or visible stale status.
Product failure Trace the value to release, source, mapping, and application revision. Verified product check and lineage.

These are proposed triggers, not scheduled jobs. A detection is not approval to change ownership semantics, joins, geometry interpretation, or quality thresholds.

Version and rollback boundaries

A Worker code deployment and a parcel data release are separate versioned artifacts. Reverting code does not restore a prior source snapshot, mapping, or publication decision. A future parcel recovery procedure must name the previous compatible release, retention availability, serving-pointer behavior, and tests.

Until those mechanisms exist, do not invent a parcel rollback command. Use Recover a release for implemented application recovery and document its data compatibility limits in the task.

Recovery record

Record the failure, affected source and releases, checkpoint, policy revision, allowed action, approval if required, operator, and outcome. Resume from verified checkpoints so retries do not repeat external requests, payments, or submissions. Retain failed observations after recovery; a successful retry does not erase what the organization learned.
