# Downsells

Commercial planning

Offers, messages, prices, guarantees, and delivery targets are proposals to validate. They do not establish available features, customer results, or contractual commitments. Confirm implementation and supporting evidence before using a proposal externally.

A downsell changes scope. It should not deliver the complete offer for a materially lower price.

## Reduced-scope options

Potential options include:

- Event-only access
- Monitoring-only access
- Smaller proof sprint
- Implementation payment plan
- Fewer markets
- Reduced integration depth

A monitoring-only offer can include one market, customer monitoring, alerts, and basic event access. It can exclude field operations, advanced action plans, campaigns, and enterprise API access.

## Decision rule

Use a downsell when the buyer fits the market but cannot support the complete scope. Decline the relationship when the buyer cannot act, expects unsupported claims, or creates unacceptable compliance risk.

Monitor downsell conversion and later expansion. Remove an option that distracts from the core offer or creates excessive support cost.
